As the month comes to a close, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible women who have made an impact—not only this month but throughout history—with their achievements, leadership, and resilience.
Moving Forward Together: Women Educating & Inspiring Generations
March is Women’s History Month, and this year’s theme, "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations," celebrates the women who have shaped our world through their contributions in education, advocacy, business, STEM, and the arts.
Business & Leadership
Indra Nooyi – Former CEO of PepsiCo and a trailblazer in corporate leadership.
Ursula Burns – The first Black woman to lead a Fortune 500 company (Xerox).
Rosalind Brewer – CEO of Walgreens and one of the few Black women to lead a Fortune 500 company.
Politics & Advocacy
Shirley Chisholm – First Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and a groundbreaking presidential candidate.
Dolores Huerta – Co-founder of the United Farm Workers and a lifelong advocate for labor and women’s rights.
Leymah Gbowee – Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist who helped end the Liberian civil war.
STEM & Innovation
Katherine Johnson – NASA mathematician whose calculations were vital to the Apollo missions.
Tu Youyou – Nobel Prize-winning scientist who discovered a groundbreaking malaria treatment.
Kimberly Bryant – Founder of Black Girls Code, working to increase diversity in tech.
Media & Arts
Shonda Rhimes – Visionary writer and producer behind Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton.
Misty Copeland – First Black principal ballerina at the American Ballet Theatre.
