Kiyara Wade Unsung Heroines: Leading the Way
Welcome
"I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms, The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me." - Maya Angelou
This quote from Maya Angelou's "Phenomenal Woman" is about embracing your unique strength, beauty, and confidence, regardless of society’s expectations or conventional standards. I relate to this quote because it resonate with my journey as a woman navigating both personal and professional spaces—whether it's being a student leader, creating empowering events for women, or pursuing your passions in communication and marketing. I am not defined by others’ perceptions but by the strength, intelligence, and authenticity that make me stand out, much like Angelou celebrates in this poem.

It speaks to the confidence I have developed in expressing myself, working to uplift others, and even addressing challenges, like finding my voice within my classes and organizations. I carved my own path and embody the kind of strength and self-assuredness that Angelou so eloquently highlights.
